Privacy policy
1. Controller
The controller responsible for the processing of personal data on this website within the meaning of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is:
Ralph Richter
Wetzlarer Weg 24

2. Principles and purpose of this website
This website presents and provides information about the photographic, film and artistic work of Ralph Richter. It is built as a static website. No user accounts, newsletters, ordering functions or contact forms are provided.
Personal data is processed only where this is necessary for the technical provision and security of the website or for handling a contact initiated by you.
3. Hosting by STRATO
This website is hosted by STRATO GmbH, Otto-Ostrowski-Straße 7, 10249 Berlin, Germany. STRATO provides the technical hosting services and processes data to the extent required for the operation and security of the website.
Where STRATO processes personal data on our behalf, this is carried out in accordance with the applicable data-protection requirements for processors. We do not use data generated through hosting for advertising, tracking or profiling.
4. Server log data and technical access data
When a website is accessed, a technical connection must be established between the visitor's device and the web server. In this context, data such as the IP address, date and time of access, requested page or file, amount of data transferred, referrer information and details concerning the browser and operating system may be processed.
STRATO maintains access logs for web hosting. According to STRATO, host names or IP addresses are anonymised in the log files made available to customers. Log files are used in particular for technical administration, error analysis and the security of website operation.
The legal basis for processing within our area of responsibility is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest lies in providing this website securely, reliably, functionally and with protection against misuse.
Technical data is processed only for as long as necessary for these purposes and the relevant security requirements. The technical retention periods of the hosting provider apply to the log files made available by STRATO.
5. Encrypted transmission
This website is provided via an encrypted HTTPS connection. This protects content transmitted between your browser and the web server, in accordance with the current state of technology, against simple interception during transmission.
6. Cookies, local storage and the privacy notice
This website does not use analytics, marketing or tracking cookies. No audience measurement, behavioural advertising or user profiling is carried out.
The privacy notice displayed on the website is an information notice and not a consent banner for analytics or marketing services. If you close the notice by selecting “understood”, your browser stores locally only the information that the notice has already been displayed and acknowledged. The stored entry contains no identification, analytics or profile data and is not transmitted to us or to third parties.
This local storage serves solely to retain your choice to hide the notice on subsequent page views. You can remove the entry at any time by deleting the website data in your browser or by using the reset function below.
To the extent that access to local storage is strictly necessary for this function initiated by the user, it is carried out on the basis of Section 25(2) TDDDG.
7. No analytics, advertising or tracking services
This website currently does not use web analytics or tracking services such as Google Analytics, Matomo, Meta Pixel or comparable technologies. No cross-device recognition and no creation of usage or interest profiles takes place.
8. No externally loaded fonts and no embedded third-party content
Fonts are not loaded from external font services. Where a particular typeface is locally available on the device being used, the browser may use it; otherwise, a locally defined fallback typeface is displayed.
At present, no content from YouTube, Vimeo, Instagram, Google Maps, social-media platforms or comparable third-party providers is embedded directly in this website. Merely accessing the website therefore does not establish a connection to such providers through embedded content.
9. Contact by email or telephone
The “Contact” menu item is implemented as an email link. Depending on your device, selecting it opens the email application configured on that device. Merely accessing the website or selecting the link does not transmit the content of any message to us through this website.
If you voluntarily contact us by email or telephone, we process the personal data you provide solely for the purpose of handling your request and the associated communication. For enquiries concerning the initiation or performance of a contract, Article 6(1)(b) GDPR is the legal basis. In other cases, processing is based on Article 6(1)(f) GDPR; our legitimate interest lies in properly handling enquiries addressed to us.
Communication data is deleted when it is no longer required for handling the matter and there are no statutory retention obligations or other legitimate grounds for continued storage. Where business or tax-relevant correspondence is subject to statutory retention duties, it is retained for the respective legally prescribed period.
10. Recipients of personal data
Recipients of personal data may include technical service providers where their services are required for the provision, maintenance or security of the website. In particular, STRATO acts as the hosting provider. Visitor data is not disclosed to advertising, analytics or tracking providers.
Where you initiate communication yourself, data may also be processed by the email or telecommunications providers used by you and by us.
11. Transfers to third countries
The website technology used by us is not currently designed to transfer website visitor data intentionally to recipients in countries outside the European Union or the European Economic Area. In particular, no third-party content is embedded that automatically sends data to non-European platform providers when a page is accessed.
If you choose to communicate by email, any transfer of data outside our immediate sphere of influence may depend on the email provider you use, for example where that provider processes data in third countries.
12. Requirement to provide personal data
You are not required to actively provide us with personal data merely to visit this website. Processing of technical connection data is, however, necessary in order to deliver the website to your device.
When contacting us, you determine which information you provide. Information required to handle a specific enquiry or perform a contract may need to be provided in order for the respective matter to be processed.
13. Automated decision-making and profiling
No automated decision-making, including profiling within the meaning of Article 22 GDPR, takes place in connection with this website.
14. Your data-protection rights
Subject to the applicable statutory requirements, you have in particular the following rights:
- right of access under Article 15 GDPR,
- right to rectification under Article 16 GDPR,
- right to erasure under Article 17 GDPR,
- right to restriction of processing under Article 18 GDPR,
- right to data portability under Article 20 GDPR, where its requirements are met,
- right to object under Article 21 GDPR to processing based on Article 6(1)(e) or (f) GDPR.
Where processing is based on your consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time with effect for the future. The lawfulness of processing carried out before the withdrawal remains unaffected.
15. Specific information concerning the right to object
Where we process personal data on the basis of Article 6(1)(f) GDPR, you have the right, on grounds relating to your particular situation, to object to that processing at any time. We will then no longer process the personal data concerned unless there are compelling legitimate grounds for the processing which override your interests, rights and freedoms, or the processing serves the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims.
16. Right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority
If you believe that the processing of your personal data infringes data-protection law, you have the right under Article 77 GDPR to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. In particular, you may contact the supervisory authority responsible for us:
Landesbeauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit Nordrhein-Westfalen (LDI NRW)

17. Changes to this privacy policy
This privacy policy reflects the current technical state of this website. If additional functions, external services, analytics tools, embedded media, a shop, a contact form or other technically relevant components are added in the future, the privacy policy will be reviewed before or at the time of their introduction and amended where necessary.
